From the mainland you can take ferries to East Frisian Islands - Wangerooge , Spiekeroog , Langerooge , Baltrum , Norderney , Juist and Borkum .

The islands of Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge can also be reached by tideland from the mainland at low tide.

The largest of the seven islands is Borkum, with about 31 square kilometers and 5,000 inhabitants. The smallest of the islands is Baltrum with less than 600 island inhabitants.

The East Frisian Islands are located in the Niedersächsisches Wadden Sea National Park . The National Park is due to its species-rich flora and fauna as particularly worth protecting. Since 2009, the Wadden Sea has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The islands are a popular travel route due to the salty sea air, long sandy beaches and unique dune landscapes , as well as the vast salt marshes and unique wildlife - including sea gulls, black headed gulls and sea herring.

Especially in the summer months, the East Frisian Islands are popular tourist and tourist destinations.

A short vacation on the islands to relax and recharge nature. Most of the islands are car-free - the journey takes place on foot, by bicycle or by horse-drawn carriage.
